Welcome! We are so excited to help with any part of your planning/ coordinating process. We know how it can be an exciting but also stressful time for you. We hope to serve you in a way that feels relaxed and fun!
Happy planning!
Dear, dear, bride-to-be… the princesses we grew up with lied and now you know too.
If you didn’t know before, the wedding planning blues are very real and common. You are not a weirdo.
We want to address the sadness in the room. Wedding planning is not all tasty cake samples and trying on your ideal dress. A lot of planning is emails, research, phone calls, contracts to read, and making 12 decisions for every little thing you want incorporated in your wedding day.
It can be hard to talk about because there is this unrealistic expectation that you should be in constant bliss throughout the process, but we are an honest group around here and we just want to give you our full support. Wedding planning SUCKS sometimes.
Here are a few ways to help relieve the heaviness of the planning process.
1. Take a Break
So you want to try doing this grand wedding, while working, planning for your future, and keeping up with friends and family while maintaining a social life? Sweet Angel Bride, absolutely not! You cannot plan a wedding and do all of the things at the same time without completely losing your head. We’re pretty sure none of us want that happening right before you walk down the aisle.
Shut the computer.
Turn the phone off and plug it in (after telling your friend you cannot make it to trivia night tonight).
Fill a glass of water.
Sit Down.
Now comes the hard part- stay there.
Drink the water and read a book or start an old TV show and lay down under your favorite blanket to take a nap. We have it on good authority that even Jesus took naps so you really can’t argue that it’s a bad idea 😉
Rest is so important for our physical and mental wellness. You can’t do things well if your body is depleted. You need a pause. You have been pushing yourself to the point of overwhelm and all that joy about getting married is slowly slipping away. Anyone for eloping?
Remember that you want the wedding. The problem is not the wedding itself but the lack of rest it takes to replenish your emotional energy that comes from those well-cared-for happy hormones. We love the happy hormones!!
So rest, you exotic butterfly bride. You will thank us and yourself later.
2. Delegate
This is one of our favorite words. You have a team, use it! We call it a wedding party because they are the people you want partying around you on the big day, but it should really be called the Bridal squadron or Chaos Control Team.
The people standing and dancing next to you should be willing to dedicate some time to helping you. Picking up something, making a few phone calls, helping with a DIY project, etc. In fact, when asking them to be in your wedding party, you should make it known that there may be a few tasks involved. This is a completely reasonable thing to do and if they want to support you then it shouldn’t be a problem.
You may also have a family member who really wants to be involved, don’t turn down helpful hands. Accept their offer for your own sanity and peace of mind.
Delegating is a great way to make sure that the strenuous planning process doesn’t get on top of you causing exhaustion or discouragement.
3. Hire a Planner
You may think that we add a plug-in for our own sakes as often as we can, but the truth is, we love supporting couples through the planning process and if you are able to hire a planner it will be a major stress relief in the future.
Planners can do as much or as little as you want. Need someone to create a to-do list/timeline leading up to the big day? We got you. You want someone to figure out all the décor so that you don’t have to? Your wish is our command. Are we hiring vendors? Booking travel for incoming relatives? Sending you weekly affirmations so you know you’re not alone? We get it. We live in the chaos that is wedding planning and we do it for our love of happy couples who dance the night away instead of escaping to finally take a breath after all the stress-planning.
Wedding planners love to make it easier on yo. We LOVE to hear things like, “You made the process so EASY!” and, “I LOVE the to do list timeline that kept me on track. I never felt behind on things!”
All of these tips can be summed up in these two tips. Take a break and ask for help. Isn’t that pretty much always good advice?
So go, enjoy your nap and hopefully we’ll hear from you very soon if you’re done feeling the blues.
Sincerely,
The Creative Grace Planning Hype Team <3
